16Plus Accommodation

Esteem Plus is an organisation which offers support and accommodation to homeless and vulnerable young people. We work with Local Authorities to meet their obligations by providing  a bespoke service to young people who are transitioning into adulthood  in a variety of properties  particularly in their area.

We offer support to both single young people aged 16-21, and also to young parents aged 16-21. Each young person works with our staff and volunteers to create a unique programme of support which meets their own individual needs. These programmes are reviewed regularly as our young people learn and develop, to ensure that they keep working.

Esteem Plus aims to support all of our young people to develop independent living skills and move on to suitable and permanent accommodation.

We help young people leaving in residential and in foster care, to prepare for full independence. We deliver Individualised support packages around the young persons’ needs to help them make the transition, weaning the level of support as young people demonstrate their ability to make better informed choices and become less reliant on staff support.

We are committed to young people and helping them to maximise their potential. We do not give up on young people and hold their safety and welfare as paramount. This ethos is reflected in our dealings with our young people, staff, commissioners, social workers and all partner agencies. Many of the young people have challenging behaviours but all have unique talents and we aim to treat them respectfully as individuals.

Support for Independence

  • We aim to provide an appropriate accommodation and support service that offers young people day to day support and training to achieve positive results.
  • We aim to increase young people’s skills, confidence and self-esteem by providing them with a positive network of support and links into their community.
  • We aim for their independence to grow and our support to taper down, in preparation for a stable ‘move-on’ into adulthood.
  • We aim to help young people to build their self-esteem, self-confidence and self-actualization and embrace who they are, in order to fulfil life potentials and wellbeing.

Flexible, Quality Operator

  • We aim to be a flexible, adaptable and quality operator that offers good value for money.
  • We expect our staff to be good role models.
  • We understand the pressures on time and resources that Local Authorities can face in relation to adequately and safely support young people.
  • Young people have an accommodation agreement that explains everything about the home, our expectations and some do’s and don’ts. The agreement is signed by the young person, social worker and Sixteen Plus, prior to admission.
